Biography

Robert Beck, known as Iceberg Slim, was a notorious American pimp and writer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was raised by his mother, who supported him with a college education despite their difficult circumstances. Slim's life of street crime and bootlegging eventually led to his expulsion from Tuskegee University, and he later turned to writing, publishing his memoir "Pimp: The Story of My Life" in 1967, which became a bestseller.
