Dick Smothers

Biography

Richard Remick Smothers was born on November 20, 1938, in New York City to a homemaker mother and an Army officer father who died as a prisoner of war. As half of the folk-comedy duo the Smothers Brothers, he gained fame with his brother Tom through television shows, including their own sitcom "The Smothers Brothers Show" from 1965 to 1966. He also appeared in the film "Casino" (1995) and was a distance runner for San Jose State University's track team.
