Biography

Edward Carroll Stone Jr. was a renowned space physicist and director of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He led the Voyager mission for 50 years, guiding the spacecraft to numerous historic discoveries, including active volcanism on Jupiter's moon Io and the first spacecraft to enter interstellar space. As JPL director, Stone oversaw successful launches, including Mars Pathfinder and Cassini-Huygens.
