Kurdwin Ayub is a Kurdish-Austrian filmmaker and artist born in 1990 in Duhok, Iraq. She studied painting and animation at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and performance art at the Academy of Fine Arts, and began directing short films in 2009. Her feature film debut, Sonne (Sun), won the Best First Feature Award at the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival, marking a notable highlight in her career.
