Cai Guoqiang

Biography

Cai Guo-Qiang, born on December 8, 1957, in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China, was exposed to Western literature and traditional Chinese art forms through his father, a calligrapher and painter. As a teenager, he witnessed the social effects of the Cultural Revolution, observing gunpowder in both destructive and constructive contexts. He later transitioned to a career in art, showcasing his work in films and later, as a pyrotechnic artist.
