George Bartenieff

Biography

George Michael Bartenieff was a renowned American actor and theatre pioneer, co-founding the Theatre for the New City and the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. He appeared in nine Broadway shows, nineteen Off-Broadway productions, eighteen films, and twenty-one television episodes, earning two Obie Awards and a Drama Desk Award. A teacher at the City University of New York and a high school in Brooklyn, Bartenieff's legacy is marked by his influential work in avant-garde theatre and performance.
