Miwa, born on June 15, 1990, is a Japanese singer-songwriter who made her debut in 2010 with the single "Don't Cry Anymore". The song was used as the theme song for the drama Nakanai to Kimeta Hi, showcasing her early talent. As a teenager, she began writing songs and teaching herself guitar, eventually purchasing a Gibson J-45 after saving up her earnings from secret gigs around Tokyo and Okinawa.
