Fran Lebowitz
Biography
Frances Ann Lebowitz is an American author, public speaker, cultural critic, and actor born on October 27, 1950, in Morristown, New Jersey. Her writing, particularly Metropolitan Life (1978) and Social Studies (1981), garnered prominence, cementing her association with the Manhattan downtown art scene of the 1970s and 1980s. Lebowitz's work has been widely recognized, including two projects directed by Martin Scorsese: Public Speaking (2010) and Pretend It's a City (2021).
