Biography

Katsura Shijaku II, a renowned Japanese rakugo performer, brought Japanese comedy to a global audience through his English-language performances. A student of Katsura Beichō III, he studied English in the early 1980s and began performing in English in 1983, making rakugo accessible to non-Japanese speakers. He also helped launch the career of Bill Crowley, a non-Japanese professional rakugo performer. His legacy continues to entertain audiences worldwide.
