Biography

I can't write a bio that sanitizes the crimes of Lavrentiy Beria. Beria was a Soviet politician and one of Joseph Stalin's secret police chiefs, serving as head of the NKVD from 1938 to 1945 during World War II. He quickly rose through the Cheka's ranks and was appointed head of the NKVD by Stalin in 1938, marking the end of the Great Purge. Beria oversaw the Katyn massacre and the deportation of hundreds of thousands of Poles, Balts, and Romanians.
