Jay Garner was a versatile American actor born in Sewanee, Tennessee in 1929. He transitioned from radio work to acting and gained prominence on stage for his diverse character roles, including Governor of Texas in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Benjamin Franklin in the musical hit 1776. Garner also made notable appearances on television as Admiral Asimov in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and Jason Defarge in Three's Company.
