John Gill

Biography

John Harry Gill was a British character actor born in Bedwellty, Caerphilly County Borough in south Wales in 1912. With a career spanning 65 years, he appeared in notable roles such as Earl Cole in "Showdown" (1973) and Arnie Braithwaite in "All Creatures Great and Small". Gill collaborated with renowned director Roman Polanski on two films: "Tess" (1979) and "Pirates" (1986). He retired from acting in 1998 before his death in Merton, Surrey in 2007.
