Arthur Danto

Biography

Arthur Coleman Danto was an American art critic, philosopher, and professor at Columbia University. He was a long-time art critic for The Nation and made significant contributions to philosophical aesthetics and the philosophy of history. Danto studied art and history at Wayne University, later pursuing graduate study in philosophy at Columbia University, and taught at the university upon his return from a Fulbright scholarship in Paris.
