Biography

Larry Gales was a celebrated American jazz double-bassist, beginning his career at 11 and attending the Manhattan School of Music in the late 1950s. He was a key member of the Thelonious Monk Quartet from 1964 to 1969, recording extensively and touring worldwide. Following his relocation to Los Angeles, Gales worked with notable musicians and recorded his debut album "A Message From Monk" in 1990.
