Charlie Rouse

Biography

Charlie Rouse was a renowned American hard bop tenor saxophonist and flautist, born in Washington, D.C. in 1924. He spent over a decade collaborating with jazz legend Thelonious Monk, a partnership that marked a significant period in his career. Rouse also recorded notable albums, including a 1957 album with Paul Quinichette, and was a founding member of the group Sphere in the 1980s.
