Peggy Thorpe-Bates was a British actress known for her distinctive roles, including the feisty wife Hilda in Rumpole of the Bailey, as well as memorable appearances in Georgy Girl and Mosquito Squadron. She had a varied career in repertory theatre and television, with recurring roles in Timeslip and Return of the Saint. Married to fellow actor Brian Oulton, she left a lasting mark on British screen and stage.
