Biography

Madhur Jaffrey CBE is an Indian-American actress, food and travel writer, and television personality born on August 13, 1933. She brought Indian cuisine to the Western hemisphere with her debut cookbook, An Invitation to Indian Cooking (1973), inducted into the James Beard Foundation's Cookbook Hall of Fame in 2006. Jaffrey won a Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 15th Berlin International Film Festival for her role in Shakespeare Wallah (1965).
