Atsushi Okui

Biography

Atsushi Okui is a Japanese cinematographer born in 1963 on the island of Honshu, Japan's largest island. He began his career at Studio Ghibli in 1993 as part of the studio's photography department and went on to direct camera for notable films like Akira (1988), Princess Mononoke (1997), and The Wind Rises (2013). Okui has also directed camera for numerous other acclaimed animated productions, solidifying his reputation as a skilled behind-the-scenes artist.
