Svetlana Alliluyeva

Biography

Svetlana Alliluyeva, born on February 28, 1926, was the youngest child and only daughter of Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin and Nadezhda Alliluyeva. In 1967, she defected to the United States, causing an international sensation, and later became a naturalized American citizen in 1978. After a brief return to the Soviet Union, she briefly reinstated her Soviet citizenship from 1984 to 1986. She passed away on November 22, 2011.
