Biography

Sonny James was a country music singer and songwriter known for his hit "Young Love" in 1957, which topped both Billboard Hot Country and Disk Jockey singles charts. He was dubbed the "Southern Gentleman" for his congenial manner and had numerous chart-topping releases, including an unprecedented five-year streak of 16 straight #1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country chart. James was also a Hollywood Walk of Fame recipient and co-host of the first Country Music Association Awards Show in 1967.
