Biography

Richard Caspar Sarafian was an Armenian-American film director and actor born on April 28, 1930, in New York City to Armenian immigrants. He excelled at studying film after initially struggling with pre-law and pre-med, and later served as a reporter for the US Army news service during the Korean War. Sarafian's television career began in Kansas City, where he worked as Robert Altman's assistant and eventually directed successful shows, including the classic "Living Doll" episode of The Twilight Zone.
