Maurice Benard, born Mauricio José Morales on March 1, 1963, began his acting career as a model in the 1980s before landing his breakout role as Nico Kelly in the ABC daytime soap opera All My Children from 1987 to 1990. He later starred as Sonny Corinthos in General Hospital, earning three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. This role cemented his status as a soap opera icon.
