Simon James Holliday Gray was a playwright and memoirist born on October 21, 1936, in Hampshire, England. He spent 20 years as a university lecturer at Queen Mary, University of London, where he began writing novels and stage plays that would become his claim to fame. His work spanned five novels, 40 original stage plays, and numerous screen adaptations, showcasing his signature self-deprecating wit.
