Jia Tolentino

Biography

Jia Tolentino is a Canadian-American writer and editor, born in Toronto, Ontario, to Filipino parents. She grew up in Houston, Texas, attending a small Christian private school and graduating as her class salutatorian at 17. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2009, Tolentino spent a year as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan before earning her MFA. Her writing has appeared in prominent publications, including The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine.
