Bernard Sumner

Biography

Bernard Sumner is a founding member of Joy Division and New Order, alongside Stephen Morris being the only continuous member of the band throughout its evolution. Following Ian Curtis's death, Sumner took on lead vocal duties for New Order, leading to a shift in the band's sound towards electronic keyboards, synthesizers, and programming. He also formed Electronic with Johnny Marr as a creative outlet, which continued outside of New Order's hiatus from 1993 to 1998.
