Biography

Edgar Morin was a French philosopher and sociologist born on July 8, 1921, in Paris to Sephardic Jewish parents from Thessaloniki. As a member of the French Resistance during WWII, he adopted the pseudonym "Morin" and later joined the Communist Party before being expelled for publishing critical work. He went on to direct the magazine Arguments and coauthored the influential film "Chronicle of a Summer," exploring themes of complexity and popular culture.
