Bruce Welch

Biography

Bruce Welch was born in Bognor Regis in 1941 and grew up after his mother's death at six. He formed a Tyneside skiffle band as a teenager and later became a founding member of the Shadows with Hank Marvin, Cliff Richard's backing band. Welch also pursued solo work, including releasing the single "Please Mr. Please", and wrote numerous hit singles for Richard and the Shadows.
