Lewis Strauss
Biography
Lewis Strauss was a prominent figure in the development of nuclear energy and policy in the United States. As one of the original members of the Atomic Energy Commission, he played a key role in shaping nuclear energy policy and was a strong advocate for the development of nuclear weapons and energy. Strauss also worked to promote the peaceful uses of atomic energy, predicting that atomic power would make electricity "too cheap to meter". He served as chairman of the AEC in the 1950s.
