He became a prominent figure in the industry, receiving numerous awards including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Vibhushan, and Filmfare Awards South. Nageswara Rao was instrumental in relocating the Telugu Cinema industry from Madras to Hyderabad, and founded Annapurna Studios in 1975.
