James Bidgood

Biography

James Alan Bidgood was a highly stylized and homoerotic filmmaker, photographer, and visual performance artist known for his elaborate stagings of youthful male beauty. Born in Stoughton, Wisconsin in 1933, he moved to New York City in 1951 and attended Parsons The New School for Design. His work combined music, set design, drag performance, and photography, often inspired by high fantasy and camp aesthetics.
