Biography

Cheran is a four-time National Film Award-winning director and actor known for his works in Tamil cinema. He made his breakthrough with village-based dramas like Bharathi Kannamma (1997) and Porkkaalam (1997), exploring themes of human relationships and globalisation's impact on the Indian middle class. Notable films include Autograph (2004), a semi-autobiographical tale, and Thavamai Thavamirundhu (2005). He has also acted in films like Pirivom Santhippom (2008) and Yuddham Sei (2011).
