Biography

Joaquim Pedro de Andrade was a Brazilian filmmaker and member of the Cinema Novo movement. He is best known for his 1969 film Macunaíma, based loosely on the novel by Mário de Andrade. De Andrade also directed the documentary film Garrincha: Hero of the Jungle in 1962, which premiered at the 13th Berlin International Film Festival.
