Yasuaki Kurata, born March 20, 1946, is a Japanese actor and martial artist specializing in action movies. A skilled karate practitioner with dan ranks in various disciplines, he gained popularity for his extended battle against Jet Li in Fist of Legend and his villainous role in So Close. Having studied performing arts at Nihon University and Toei Theater School, Kurata has worked extensively in Hong Kong action films, earning two Hong Kong Film Award nominations.
