Arthur Chesney

Biography

Arthur Chesney was a British actor born in Hampstead, London, in 1881. He began his career on stage at the County Theatre in Bedford in 1903 and went on to appear in over 25 films, including "The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog" (1927). After marrying artist Kathleen Ridge, he had a daughter who became a prominent racial justice activist. Chesney died in 1949 following a massive stroke at age 67.
