Georges Aperghis is a Greek composer and musician born in 1945 to artistic parents. He co-founded the music and theater company ATEM and worked with prominent figures in experimental music, including Pierre Schaeffer and Iannis Xenakis. Aperghis was recognized with the 2011 Mauricio Kagel Music Prize and the 2015 BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award for his innovative approach to music theater.
