Adele Sandrock

Biography

Adele Sandrock was a German actress who emerged as one of the first German movie stars after a successful theatrical career. Born in Rotterdam to German and Dutch parents, she began performing at age 15 with the Meiningen Ensemble. Her breakthrough role came in 1889 at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, where she played Isabella in Der Fall Clémenceau by Alexandre Dumas Fils and Armand d'Artois.
