Alisa Freindlich was born on December 8, 1934, in Leningrad, Soviet Union. She attended drama and music classes at the Leningrad Palace of Pioneers during her childhood, surviving the Nazi siege of Leningrad and continuing her studies after the war. A graduate of the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema in 1957, Freindlich has had a distinguished career as an actress, starring in notable films and television productions, including Tarkovsky's Stalker and the Soviet TV series D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers.
