Biography

Kurt Gerron was a German Jewish actor and film director, renowned for his success in cabaret and film before World War II. After the Nazis occupied the Netherlands, he was sent to Theresienstadt Ghetto, where he was forced to create a propaganda film about the ghetto. The film, "Theresienstadt: A Documentary Film from the Jewish Settlement Area," was completed just before his death at Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944, along with his wife Olga.
