Olaf Holger Axel Fønss was a Danish actor and filmmaker of the silent era, rising to stardom in Denmark and Germany with roles in classics like "Atlantis" (1913) and the science fiction series "Homunculus" (1916). He transitioned into directing in the 1920s and 1930s, producing films that reflected his political activism, including two notable dramas for Denmark's Social Democracy Party. A prominent figure in Danish cinema, Fønss was also president of the Danish Actor's Union from 1933 to 1947.
