André Bazin
Biography
André Bazin was a renowned and influential French film critic and film theorist who started writing about film in 1943. He co-founded the magazine Cahiers du cinéma in 1951 and argued that realism is the most important function of cinema, advocating for objective reality and the interpretation of film left to the spectator. His ideas placed him in opposition to earlier film theorists who emphasized the cinema's ability to manipulate reality.
