Biography

The San Francisco Symphony, founded in 1911, is a renowned American orchestra based in San Francisco, California. Under the leadership of Michael Tilson Thomas since 1995, the orchestra has won numerous awards, including 15 Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award. The organization's Youth Orchestra and Chorus were established in 1981 and 1972, respectively, and is currently transitioning to a new music director, Esa-Pekka Salonen, in 2020.
