Margarete Schlegel was a German theatre and film actress and soprano operetta singer born on December 31, 1899, in Bromberg, West Prussia. She began her career as a schoolgirl chorus member during wartime, eventually landing starring roles at the Thalia Theatre and Deutsche Theater in Berlin. Trained by Max Reinhardt, Schlegel showcased her talents in notable productions such as "Charley's Aunt."
