Nicolas Werth
Biography
Nicolas Werth is a French historian born in 1950 in Paris. As a scholar of communist studies, he has taught abroad and served as Cultural Attaché at the French Embassy in Moscow during perestroika. He has written extensively on state violence and social resistance in the Soviet Union, including chapters in "The Black Book of Communism." Werth is also the President of Mémorial-France, the French branch of the Memorial society.
