David Scott Portnoy is an American businessman and social media personality, best known for founding and owning the sports and popular culture company Barstool Sports. Born on March 22, 1977, in Salem, Massachusetts, Portnoy played baseball in high school and won the league batting triple crown as a junior. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1999 with a degree in education, which ultimately led to the creation of his sports betting website, thegamblingman.com.
