Murdock MacQuarrie
Biography
Murdock MacQuarrie was a versatile actor and director who brought eccentricity to Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times (1936) as J. Widdecombe Billows, the inventor of the eating machine. With a 28-year stage acting career under his belt, MacQuarrie transitioned to films in 1902 with Biograph, eventually directing at Universal in the 1910s. He also ventured into real estate, joining his wife's business in Hollywood.
