Sophie Lee was born on August 7, 1968 in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. She rose to fame as a host of The Bugs Bunny Show on Australian TV and played the role of Penny Wellings in the drama series The Flying Doctors. Prior to acting, she worked as a model and later formed a pop group, Freaked Out Flower Children, which released an album in 1991.
