Chris Smith is an American filmmaker born in 1970. He gained recognition for directing American Movie, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. His subsequent work includes high-profile documentary projects such as Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond and Fyre, as well as executive producing Tiger King, earning a Primetime Emmy nomination. Smith has also created the HBO series 100 Foot Wave, winning an Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography in 2023.
