Shiori Ito

Biography

Shiori Ito is a Japanese journalist, writer, and documentary filmmaker known for her work on gender equality and human rights issues. Her advocacy, including speaking out about her experience of rape, led to international attention and her inclusion in the Time 100 Most Influential People of 2020. She published the memoir "Black Box" in 2017 and her documentary "Black Box Diaries" (2024) received critical acclaim, earning a Peabody Award.
