Juanita Moore

Biography

Juanita Moore was a trailblazing American actress born in Greenwood, Mississippi, to a family that migrated to Los Angeles during the Great Migration. She made her mark on film and stage with notable roles in "Imitation of Life" (1959), for which she became the fifth black actor to be nominated for an Academy Award, and was a key figure in the Original Cambridge Players' production of "The Amen Corner."
