Hugo Döblin

Biography

Hugo Döblin was a German stage and film actor who appeared in over eighty films during the silent era. Following the Nazi Party's rise to power in 1933, he fled Germany, settling first in Czechoslovakia and Austria before eventually making Switzerland his home. His brother Alfred Döblin, also a notable figure, was a novelist, essayist, and doctor. Döblin worked extensively in film before leaving Germany under duress.
